Request Public Records

To obtain a birth certificate, complete the Washington State Certified Birth Certificate Application and return the form to the Clallam County Health & Human Services Office. 

For Washington State certified death certificates which are available for deaths occurring in Clallam County after June 2012, complete the Clallam County Certified Death Certificate Application and return the form to the Clallam County Health & Human Services Office.

Autopsy reports are available directly from the Clallam County Coroner. You do not need to submit a public records request. Please contact the Clallam County Coroner directly at (360) 565-2611.

You do not need to submit a Public Records Request for most budget records. Budgets can be found on our website.

The Clallam County Code and the County Charter are available online.

Court records are not subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act and are not processed through the Public Records Office. However, Superior Court and District Court records are subject to disclosure under the General Rules and can be requested directly from the Courts. 

Clallam County Superior Court records can be requested by email at Web_Clerk@ClallamCountyWA.gov. For more information about Superior Court Records call (360) 417-2231. Records related to felony criminal cases, civil cases, divorce proceedings, family court, and probate proceedings are available through the Superior Court.

To request records from District Court, complete a records request form. Then submit the completed form by emailing web_dc1@clallamcountywa.gov for District I (Port Angeles) or to Mark Downing at mark.downing@clallamcountywa.gov for District II (Forks). Records related to misdemeanor crimes and traffic violations are available through the District Court.

The following inmate information is available online via the daily jail register:

• Inmate name
• Booking date(s)
• Description of charge(s)
• Offense date(s)
• Bail bond information
• Arresting agency

In accordance with the City and County Jails Act (RCW 70.48.100), all other inmate records are confidential and may only be provided directly to the inmate, upon written permission from the inmate, or by a court order signed by a judge.

Clallam County's Geospatial Portal is the County's one-stop location to access web map services and download geographic data. 

Marriage Certificates are recorded documents and may be obtained from the Clallam County Auditor's Office. Unofficial copies can be obtained for free online at the following link: https://erecording.clallam.net/recorder/web/ For official and certified copies, contact the Auditor's Office directly by calling (360)417-2220. There are fees for obtaining certified copies of documents.

Divorce decrees are several page documents explaining the terms of the divorce. For divorce decrees, contact the Superior Court Clerk in the county where the divorce was finalized. If the divorce was finalized in Clallam County, more information can be obtained from the Clerk of Superior Court. 

Divorce certificates are a one-page document stating two parties were divorced on a specific date. Divorce Certificates can be obtained from the Washington State Department of Health.

You can use the Clallam County Online Permit System to obtain information about building permits, septic permits, and Development Review Cases. You can also use this system to find information about parcels of land (including links to permits, maps, Assessor Information, and other related documents). This system also allows the public to view Development Permit Applications currently open to public comment.
