Per RCW 70.95, Clallam County must have a current Solid Waste Management Plan (Plan), updated every 5 years. The Plan addresses solid and hazardous waste management throughout Clallam County. It is a joint city-county Plan for the cities of Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks and includes tribal government participation.
This Plan is the county's roadmap to managing a comprehensive solid waste system and planning for adequate services for its citizens and businesses including programming and capital facilities. This update is an opportunity to engage stakeholders to ensure that public health, economic, and environmental considerations reflect local needs and conditions, and it provides support for program development, permitting, and funding applications for solid waste and recycling projects. An update of the Plan began in 2019, led by consultant Green Solutions. Stakeholder review of the plan update occurs at Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) meetings, which are open to the public. There are currently open positions on the SWAC.

Note: The plan includes the Hazardous Waste Management Plan and Contamination Reduction and Outreach Plan as appendices.
