In 2004, with funding from the WA Department of Ecology, the Clallam County Department of Community Development produced a comprehensive, readable summary of the state of Clallam County's watersheds. These watersheds, which provide recreational, aesthetic, economic, and ecological benefits for residents and visitors, vary in condition: some provide abundant resources for fish, wildlife, and humans, while others have been severely impacted by human activities. The State of the Waters report helps citizens evaluate the health of individual watersheds and understand their problems, in order to better protect and restore them.
