Individualized Supported Employment, Community Inclusion and Transition Services

Individual Supported Employment

Clallam County provides funding for employment services to over 100 adults who experience intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).

Individual Supported Employment services play a role in helping people who experience IDD's pursue their unique employment goals. These services are customized based on each person’s strengths, preferences, and skills, with a focus on long-term career growth. The goal is to support individuals in finding and keeping jobs in the general workforce that employ at or above the state minimum wage.

Individual Supported Employment services can include activities such as initial intake, exploration and assessment, job readiness training, job development, on-the-job support, documentation, and ongoing assistance to help maintain employment.

Community Inclusion

Community Inclusion services are personalized supports offered in regular, inclusive community environments. These services focus on helping individuals build skills for independent living and to become more engaged and self-sufficient within their local communities. Activities are designed to foster social connections and allow individuals to develop, practice, and apply skills that enhance their independence and community participation.

For individuals of working age, Community Inclusion services may be approved alongside employment supports, provided they have participated in at least nine months of employment-related services.

Transition Services

Transition Services help young adults move from the school system into the workforce by supporting them in finding meaningful employment. These services guide students and their families in navigating the shift from high school to adult job support programs. Support is provided to coordinate funding between Developmental Disabilities Community Services (DDCS) and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
