- River / Creek / Lake Access
Mary Lukes Wheeler County Park was acquired in 1994.
This Dungeness River access property consists of approximately 10 acres and 3,000 lineal feet along the west bank of the Dungeness River. One of only four freshwater parks in the County system, this quiet spot is the perfect place to find a shady, cool respite from the summer sun. Park development includes two small vehicle parking lots, river access trails, and picnic sites.
The area is located on Ward Road, north of Woodcock Road in the Sequim Dungeness Valley. The property goes to the center line of the river only. Olympic Game Farm shares the lovely country road.
A short detour off the Olympic Discovery Trail will reward bicyclists with a picnic site that soothes the soul with the sound of water tumbling over boulders.
Activities
Favorite activities are hiking, river access, and fishing the river frontage. There is an accessible picnic site in the north parking lot.
