Size

196-acres, located adjacent to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and WDNR Striped Peak Area.

Park Amenities

Numerous first come, first serve day-use picnic tables with fire pits and benches. Playground, sand volleyball courts, horse-shoe pits, basketball court, playing field (bring your own equipment).

Day-Use Picnic Shelter

  • Day-Use Picnic Shelter Fee: $80 a day
  • Number of Visitors: Maximum 50 inside shelter.
  • Shelter Amenities include: picnic tables, sink, hot water, electric outlets, electric cook top, counters, outdoor barbeque grills, trash receptacle, and fireplace. (Grills or other hot cooking appliances allowed on countertops only.)
  • Wood fire: Permitted in the fireplace. Only barbeque briquettes in outdoor grills.
  • Clean-up: Required after group use.
  • Parking: Carpooling encouraged. Recommend arrival as early as possible to meet parking needs.
  • Play Areas: ALL playground and recreational areas SHARED with other park patrons.
  • Arrival Time: 8 am; Departure Time: Guests required to leave park before gate closes. Gate hours posted at the entrance.
  • Overnight camping: prohibited in picnic shelter.
  • Alcoholic beverages or marijuana: Prohibited (RCWs 66.44.100 and 69.50.445).
  • Park Manager (or representative) has authority to remove from the Park any or all members of a group whose behavior, at any time, conflicts with County or State laws, becomes detrimental to health and safety of group, or other Park users, or becomes so unruly as to affect the reasonable enjoyment of the Park by other users.

The day-use picnic shelter is online reservable only.

Note: for Day-Use Picnic Shelter Reservations;

  1. Go to CampLife Reservation System
  2. Log in, choose Picnic Shelter
  3. Choose the date you want to reserve.
  4. CampLife automatically shows departure date as the next day, however it's not an overnight reservation.
  5. It is not an overnight reservation, currently, this is the only way systems takes one-day reservations.
  6. One reservation is allowed per day (all amenities are included-water; stove; fireplace).
  7. No Half Reservation accepted.
  8. If you want to reserve the next consecutive day for day-use picnic shelter; make a separate reservation for the next day.

Trails

Short scenic wooded park trails; trails to WWII historic bunker; hiker/equestrian trailhead to WDRN Striped Peak. There is no pass or entry fee for Salt Creek Recreation Area or WDNR Striped Peak Area. The Striped Peak trail is 5-mile round trip hike with 850 feet elevation gain, highest elevation point is 1,166 feet.

Campsites

  • 92 total scenic campsites; Utility sites numbers 1 to 39; Non-utility campsites numbers 40 to 92
  • First come, first serve sites Numbers 1 to 15, numbers 40 to 49; numbers 69 to 70; numbers 74 to 92; Reservable sites Number 16-39; Number 50-68; Number 71-73
  • Two ADA accessible campsites, number 39 and number 71
  • Six people per single campsite per C.C.C. 23.03.040

Parking

Several Day-Use parking lots and an ADA accessible restroom available year-round.

Bathrooms

  • Two fully ADA accessible restrooms, with coin-operated showers; one vault toilet available May to October
  • One fully ADA accessible restroom, with coin-operated shower; one vault toilet available November to April
  • Water faucets can be found throughout the Park, with limited access from October through April due to winterization.

  • Late Arrivals
    • If a registered camper arrives after hours, park in lot near the gate and walk to the campsite.

Camping Hours

  • Check-out time: Noon (or sooner).
  • Check-in time: There is no designated check-in time.
  • For first come, first served sites - if site is unoccupied, you may occupy site.
  • For reservable sites - if sign reads available, and site is unoccupied, you may occupy site for one night.
  • For occupying a site you reserved - if unoccupied, you may occupy site; if noon or after you may occupy site; previous occupant check out time is noon.

First Come, First Serve Camping Information

Information & Fee Envelopes

  • First come, first serve camping is done via self-registration at the park kiosk. Information and fee envelopes available at park kiosks.
  • Locate and occupy empty first come, first serve campsite (numbers 1 to 15, numbers 40 to 49; numbers 69 to 70; number 74 to 92).
  • Return to fee kiosk station immediately to register, fill out fee envelope and close proper fee.
  • Remove the camping receipt off fee envelope and place on vehicle dashboard. Deposit the fee envelope into fee box.

Payment

First come, first serve payment must be cash or money order. No  Credit Cards, Canadian checks, currency or coins. Payment can be one night at a time, or for entire stay. No refunds available.

Reservation System

CampLife Reservation System opens on January 1st to make reservations for the same calendar year.

Reservation Season

The campground is open year-round, however reservations are accepted February to October for the current calendar year.

Reservable Sites

  • Campsites Number 16 to 39; Number 50 to 68; Number 71 to 73, are the sites that can be reserved during the February 1- October 31 timeframe. (Reservation system opens January 1 of same calendar year)
  • All campsites first come, first serve November 1 to January 31

Reserve

Reserve a Campsite! All reservations must be made at least seven days in advance. Register and log on to CampLife Reservation system prior to selecting camping date and site. Bring copy of reservation receipt with you to the park.

Reservation Policy / Modifications / Cancellations

Camping Fees - Effective January 1, 2023

First come, first serve campers: No Credit Cards, Canadian checks, currency or coins.

  • Clallam County Resident: Non-Utility Campsite: $25 per night [no electric or water]
  • Clallam County Resident: Utility Campsite: $30 per night [electric, (seasonal) water hook-ups]
  • Non-Clallam County Resident: Non-Utility Campsite: $30 per night [no electric or water]
  • Non-Clallam County Resident Utility Campsite: $35 per night [electric, (seasonal) water hook-ups]
  • Extra vehicle: One extra vehicle per site allowed: $5 a night
  • Firewood: $5 a bundle
  • Showers: Coin-operated showers, nominal charge (quarters only)
  • Reservation Fee: $10 per reservation
  • Reservation Cancellation Fee: $10 per cancellation
  • Dump Station Fee: $10 for Non-registered Campers; Free for Registered Campers
  • Day Use: No Fee
