True Star Behavioral Health Program
True Star Behavioral Health is a state-licensed Behavioral Health Agency focused on Youth Treatment, founded in August of 1998. It was started due to the lack of services available for youth and adolescents in our community at that time. It is currently the largest youth treatment program in Clallam County and services are provided by licensed, experienced clinicians who can provide chemical dependency, mental health, and family counseling. True Star believes in serving the whole family and it is our hope that everyone in the family system will feel supported during their involvement with us.
True Star has been the privileged recipient of two consecutive federal (SAMHSA) and state (DBHR) grant collaborations since the fall of 2012. These grant projects specialized in youth treatment enhancement. Although the grant ended in 2019, the evidence-based work continues.
The grant data outcomes showed excellent True Star treatment results in areas such as: increasing substance abstinence, reducing recidivism, improving healthy social connectedness, and reduction in Juvenile Justice involvement.
True Star Behavioral Health offers the following services:
Alcohol/Drug Assessments: We assess youth aged 12-17 for alcohol/drug problems and make recommendations based upon these findings.
Assessments and Treatment Placement: This program includes help with inpatient services and/or referral to Drug Court for one year of outpatient services.
Drug Court: The assessments are conducted through Juvenile Services. Drug Court youth are case managed through Juvenile Services by the Drug Court Case Manager/Liaison.
Detention-Based Treatment: Program for youth incarcerated within the detention facility who show symptoms of having behavioral health concerns.
Outpatient Treatment: Includes three phases of a recovery program with attendance of one to three days per week depending on the need of the youth. There may be anger management and life skills programming for youth in conjunction with an individual service plan.
Dual Diagnosis Counseling: True Star offers Family and Individual Counseling for youth and their families receiving chemical dependency treatment. These services are provided by Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDPs) who are also licensed Mental Health (LMHC).
